What's hot in the crafting world? That's a question that is always on the mind of a crafter with an ever changing answer. Today's hot items seem to change as often as the day itself but some things remain constant as well.

While some things seem to flare up and cause a big commotion, others keep a steady flow. For instance, beaded watch bands have had their day but quilting seems to never go out of style. But don't get discouraged, everything has its moments.

While beaded watch bands seemed to catch on in a hurry and then die out a bit, this doesn't mean they are not popular. When they were new, nobody had one. All of a sudden someone discovered them and everyone had to have one. Now that many people have them, and more than one usually, the trend has seemed to die down a bit. If you think they are not popular any more, just take a look around; many women wear them every day. It's just that the market has been filled and now they aren't sought after as much because everyone has at least one. But it's an item that carries on steadily, as women replace old ones or buy new outfits they need to match. Don't be discouraged just because something dies down.

Quilting on the other hand fills a much different role. There is always a need for a blanket to stay warm in or a new bed cover to make your newly painted room look alive and fresh. But the quilting industry itself has trends and fluctuations that make it possible to always be creating something new. Remember when jean quilts first became popular? Or when orange and lime green and yellow were a slightly different shade than today's similar colors? Trends happen in every aspect of crafting.

The best thing to do if you are trying to find out what the latest fashion is in the crafting industry is to take a look around. See what people are wearing or using or decorating with. Check out the latest magazines and what's in the craft stores. That's the best way to keep up with what's hot and what's not.

But the best place to go is your own imagination. Let your creativity flow and you may just find something unique and wonderful! Who knows, maybe you can make a little money at it!
