Denise has been crafting since she can remember, usually working on something
whenever she had a spare moment. As a girl she enjoyed sewing (mostly Barbie
dresses), crocheting (Barbie hats and blankets) and beading (not for Barbie).
Today she continues to express her artistic side by carrying on with these
skills and developing new ones. Her latest obsession comes from her desire to
make things that are simple but exciting.
"I love beads and bling!" she said.
Bracelets are her obsession, whether they are in the form of watch bands or
memory wire, charm bracelets or cha-cha bracelets: it doesn't matter what kind
they are, she loves them. She also likes to make crocheted hats, jewelry,
quilts, hair accessories and even enjoys making a Barbie dress now and then,
this time in the form of the crocheted outfits that are much more complicated
and detailed than the simple tube dresses she sewed as a girl.
Denise has been making and selling crafts at craft fairs and farmer's markets
for 7 years now. Her favorite thing to make is the crocheted headwraps. These
items don't take forever to make and she can really let her artistic style show.
Denise's favorite National Park is Yosemite in California and her favorite
season is summer, although autumn is rapidly overtaking it. She loves to work
with every color and her dream car? A Ford Mustang in metallic royal blue and
tan leather interior.
Her advice to her fellow crafters is: "Find something you really love
making for yourself and you will make beautiful things! Your obsession for
what you love will show through."
